Hey people!

The QueerFest 2010 is rolling closer and we're SOOOOO excited!!!

There are some things to let us know before hand – so email us on info@queerfestival.org if you

• have kids and have needs around them

• have special needs regarding food or sleeping spaces (note all food will be vegan and all sleeping spaces free and common- so other needs :)

• if you are going to use the sleeping spaces

• when you are coming and going

• if you will need translation

• other special needs

People have started taking on doing alot of it...there are still things to do...next update we will send out the contacts for people doing the different parts- but for now here is the extended list of things you can do to make the fest happen...

Note : We particularly need people who are interested in fundraising!! So if you know how, want to know how, could do something about this PLEASE email Else: on elsekw@gmail.com

The EXPandED List:

Money:

• do the accounting :)

• apply for grants (for particular parts of the fest or the whole thing)

• throw a support event

Food:

• organize it all!

• Order and or buy / bring food

• take on coordinating a meal or day in the kitchen

• organize kitchen equipment

Communication

• send/take posters etc to queer events/spaces in your town (contact info@queerfestival.org if you want us to send you posters and stickers)

• make/maintain the website (email luiflint@gmail.com if you have special skills you want to contribute)

• Send pictures to be put on the website (if you know that everyone in the picture is ok about being on a public website- please don't assume this- ask!!)

• do facebook things

• write, layout and print welcome information

• someone to organize lots of people to do the things for the last two weeks before the festival

• make the welcome space at the fest

• be the email checker and responder

• coordinate pre-registration

Events:

• organize one of the events of the festival (in the past this has included a performance night, big all invited party, a sex party, an acoustic night, a film screenings, an oil wrestling event, protests, art exhibitions but feel free to organize something else!)

• organize part of the events ie a special bar, the sound equipment, light and sound people, advertising for them, decorations for them etc)

• coordinate the events

• pre-events for the fest

Space (which could include):

• come early and build/decorate/find furniture etc for the space

• stay after and do the final clean up

Kids

• organize sleeping space for people with kids

• organize kids workshops and events and space at festival

Participation:

• help to make the festival more relevant to a wider group of queers...queers of colour, queer parents, older queers,

• organize translation into different languages the website, the propaganda – if you want to translate email queertranslate@gmail.com

• organize the translation for the fest

Sleeping

• organize places for people with special needs to sleep

• find bedding etc

Conflict resolution group:

• update the policy and process

• make posters for it

• form a group to do it

• run pre-fest workshops to discuss and train up on how to be in this

Dress Ups:

• get clothes/makeup/wigs/ etc

• make a dress up space at the fest

Sex Spaces:

• make/decorate them

• get fun and safe sex stuff for them

Communal Bikes:

• get bikes'

• fix/ decorate them

• organize bike fixing tools for the week

Workshops/discussions/presentations

• organize them

• organize resources for them

• If you know you want to do workshops or have already organized an event please write in to info@queerfestival.org soon there will be a DIY system so you can change it yourselves

BUT Don't be constrained by our thoughts!!! Feel free to dream up other things to do...
